The Cascais Wine Club is a project that is run by me, Petra Bakker. I am a wine expert with over 12 years of experience in teaching wine courses and giving wine tastings in the Netherlands. I followed my passion and relocated to Portugal a few years ago. Now I share my love for Portuguese wines with locals,  expats and other internationals in Cascais.

The diversity of Portuguese wines keeps blowing me away. Each region has so much authenticity to offer. And the quality of the wines is one of the wine worlds best kept secrets. My aim is to help others to enjoy the Portuguese wines as much as I do. The Cascais Wine Club aims to allow acces to the best Portuguese wines at a friendly price. With a selection that is curated from an international wine drinkers perspective. 

My journey in wine started more than 20 years ago. As a restaurant manager I have worked in high end restaurants in Amsterdam. Managing service, the wine lists and cellar. With a strong focus on wine and food pairings.

In 2012 I got certified as a ´Vinoloog van de Wijnacademie´, the second highest in Dutch Wine certificatiom. Since then I have been sharing my knowledge on wine with others on a free-lance basis. By conducting workshops and courses, in the Dutch SDEN levels and in the international WSET certification. Currently I am studying to become certifies as WSET DIP at the WSET school in London. 

Since the start of 2025 I am full-time focussed on wine in Portugal. With my company Vidavinho I organise wine tastings and workshops in the center of Cascais. And I give private group tastings on request in the greater Lisbon area.

With the Cascais Wine Club I want to make good quality wines accessible for everyone who likes to enjoy a good glass of wine at home.
